Target Audience
This unit applies to individuals working in collection centres‚ hospitals, in other health care environments and workplaces where drugs of abuse testing takes place.

Learning Methods
Learning consists of a short online pre-training knowledge assessment and an interactive hands-on training day covering three testing methods:
- breath alcohol testing
- oral fluid - saliva testing
- urine testing

- Hands-on breath alcohol, urine and oral fluid drug testing
- Familiarity of Australian Standards, Legislation and Regulations
- Impacts, effects and symptoms of drugs and alcohol
- Privacy issues and risk assessment including safety and PPE
- Infection control, waste management
- Consent Forms, Chain of Custody and the legal implications
- Confirm collection requirements
- Prepare for collection procedure
- Collect specimen
- Follow post collection procedures
- Basic conflict resolution skills
